Introduction

As part of our ongoing commitment to our customers we organise track evenings. We do this because they are great fun and the natural intended environment for most modern sports bikes, and not just Ducati models.

This year we have decided to sell our tickets online, where previously you had to contact us directly to book. Now you can book online through the trusted and secure Event Brite website! If you have any problems, you can contact us directly on 0141 33 4998.

  • Friday 31st May
  • Fri 21st June
  • Fri 26th July
  • Fri 16th August

How does a track day work?

The set-up is simple. Track evenings are from 5/5.30pm to 8pm and you bring along your own bike.

Sign-on takes place in the Knockhill Cafe from 5pm to 5.30pm. At this point you are required to complete a disclaimer and have your valid UK driving licence checked - so don’t forget to bring it with you! We’ll also check you have the correct and safe riding wear. You must have a helmet, boots and gloves with you, and be wearing zip together two piece or one piece leather suit. Textiles are not permitted.

The Safety Briefing starts at 5.30pm so please be on site, signed-on and ready for 5.30pm. The safety briefing from Knockhill staff lasts around 20-30 minutes and is fully comprehensive. During the safety briefing, novices or those who haven’t been on a circuit for a while will be asked to identify themselves.

All 40 riders on the track go together whether novice or fast for a 2 hours 'open' session. The pit lane is then open for the duration of the session until 8pm so you can come in and out as much as you please, maximising track time as much as possible.

Why should I take part in a track night?

The excitement of opening up the throttle and gaining true unrestricted freedom is pure bike heaven! The best way to approach a track evening is to view the circuit as a safe stretch of road that you can learn easily and become very familiar with. The track is somewhere you can forget about all of the usual concerns about road riding.

The emphasis is on fun and safety. Just because the speeds are generally higher, doesn't mean the danger is. This is one of the only times you will ride your motorcycle in a controlled and supervised environment, where every corner is being supervised by a trained professional marshall. You can experience your motorcycle at its full potential and there are no speed limits on the circuit.

Track riding has been proven to make you a better road rider, you can spend time working on your lines, lean angle, corner execution and more. It’s also great to meet others who enjoy fast bikes!

Who are track nights for?

Everyone who has a motorcycle licence and is over 21 years of age! Professionals, racers, those looking to improve their skills, practise their lean angle and even novices! As our track evenings are open sessions, this means all skill and speed levels can intermingle on the track easily and without incident. The positive effect is the slower riders learn from the faster ones.

Can any type of motorcycle come along?

Yes of course! Our track nights are held by Ducati Glasgow, although you don’t need to have a Ducati to come along! Our track nights are open to all makes of bike - we’ve even had a BMW R1200 GS on the circuit! Please note that we do not hire out bikes for track nights, you must bring along your own motorcycle.

Can my friends and family come and watch?

Yes of course - the more the merrier! There is a cafe and seating on site so bring along your fans!

What are the rules?

Over-taking is done only in straight lines, either on the brakes or on the straights. We always recommend leaving the corner overtaking manoeuvres to the racers and the professionals.

Track misbehaviour is simply not tolerated by either Ducati Glasgow or Knockhill. Every rider is on track will be riding their pride and joy so it is a very courteous environment, there is no fairing bashing and it is not a race. There is no noise testing at Knockhill.

What if I’m new to this - or haven’t done a track day in a while?

That’s no problem, let us know during sign on / safety briefing and we’ll give you a high-vis vest. This way experienced riders will be able to identify you while on track and give you a bit more space when they are overtaking. You will also be given a few extra guided laps before everyone else so you have the chance to ask any questions, familiarise yourself with the track, speed and corners. On every track night we have staff members and instructors on hand to take you round and give you one to one instruction and advice.

What are the requirements / do I need to bring with me?

Riders must be over 21 and hold a valid UK motorcycle driving licence. You must bring your driving licence to the track event if you wish to ride on circuit.

You must also have a helmet, boots and gloves with you, and be wearing zip together two-piece or one-piece leather suit. When booking a track night you confirm that you meet these requirements.

It’s sold out - is there a waiting/reserve list?

Yes, we hold a waiting list incase of cancellations. Only if the track night you wish to go on is sold out then please contact us directly to be added to the reserve list. If a space becomes available we will contact those on the waiting list on a first-come-first-served basis to let you know you are now able to book a place.

There was a photographer - where can I find the photos?

We occasionally bring along our own photographer, or alternatively, Knockhill have an on-site photographer. Get in touch with our Marketing Team to find out who was taking pictures.

When are track nights?

We hold around seven of our Ducati Track Nights at Knockhill between April and September. These usually take place on a Friday night, although sometimes we hold them on Thursday evenings. You should sign on between 5pm and 5.30pm and the track is open until 8pm.

Booking Information

There is a limited space of 40 bikes per track on these events. Due to this limit our Track Nights usually sell out over a month in advance. If you wait until the day of the Track Night you will almost certainly be disappointed. Please book your space with plenty of time to spare.
