Level 2 - Interventions to support people usings drugs or alcohol

This level 2 course is commissioned by public health and is designed to help participants to identify and undertake interventions regarding drug and alcohol use. This is a single day course. It covers the following learning outcomes.

• Participants will learn about local treatment and recovery services.

• Participants will learn how to use screening tools to help them to identify drug and alcohol related problems

• Participants will learn about a variety of treatment and recovery options that are offered to help users to make changes to their drug and alcohol use.

• Participants will learn how cognitive behavioural techniques like the cycle of change can help users to make changes to their drug and alcohol use.

• Participants will learn how to use brief interventions when engaging with service users to help then to cut down on the risks associated with drug and alcohol use.

• Participants will learn about a variety of harm reduction interventions that they can offer their service users

• Participants will learn about UK drug policy, law and how a criminal record for drug use can impact on their service users prospects

• Participants will learn how to challenge stereo types and address personal thoughts and feelings regarding drug use that they may encounter.

• Participants will learn how to build resilience in their service users to help them to make changes to their drug and alcohol use.

This event is free (refreshment included but no lunch). There is no parking at switch. We will charge your organisation £30 for late cancellation or non attendance
