Hilfield Friary are pleased to invite you to a workshop to discuss the ecology and conservation of the Duke of Burgundy in Dorset. This rare species is on the brink of extinction in Dorset and the last few sites are being managed this year under a Farming in Protected Landscapes (FIPL) grant, which is also funding this workshop.
The workshop is aimed at land managers and advisors to provide them with the latest information about the status of the butterfly in Dorset and how to manage habitats for it. We will have expert speakers from other counties who have had great success in conserving this demanding species, including Dan Tuson, Natural England Advisor from Kent, Sue Clarke, Director of The Eco Centre South West from Somerset, and Neil Hulme, Ecologist/Conservationist from Sussex. The programme will include a mix of talks and discussion sessions.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
