DUNDEE SOUP #3
Event Information
Description
Join us for Dundee Soup #3
For a suggested donation of £5, attendees receive a simple soup supper and hear up to four short presentations from local people running community projects. These can range from art, urban agriculture, social justice, social entrepreneurs, education, technology and much more. At the end of the night, everyone votes on their preferred project, the ballots are counted and the winner goes home with ALL of the money raised on the night to develop their project! Winners come back to a future Dundee Soup dinner to report on their project’s progress.
The format is simple - up to:
• FIVE minutes presentations, from
• FOUR local people, followed by
• THREE questions from the audience.
Dundee Soup dinners are open to anyone: whether you need help for an idea that could benefit the Dundee community or whether you want to support a local community-based project.
You can take part by either pitching or simply coming along, to enjoy good food in good company and know your £5 will go into a collective pot for a good cause that you will help choose!
We're delighted to let you know that Lifegate Tea Dance - who provide a place for older people to gather and socialise and was the first winner of Dundee Soup’s micro community grant in April 2017 - will be hosting the event and providing the soup this time round.
And for entertainment, we look forward to enjoying some tunes with Dee Ukes who meet weekly at the Finmill Centre in Fintry, Dundee.
The projects pitching on the night are:
Guidance For Parents
Catesbi CIC offers parental guidance and teacher training to enable positive change for children with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, learning & behavioural difficulties based on the science of behaviour. We give parents information on how they can teach their children new skills and behaviours. These sessions are focused on communication, play, behaviours and parenting styles. We also deliver professional training to suit the needs of their organisation and create bespoke training all tailored to their needs. We aim to reduce the cost for parents and make the sessions completely free.
Cancer Dundee Support Network
CANDU are a group of local cancer patients and survivors working to ensure patient needs are at the heart of decision making from diagnosis, through treatment, to recovery and including end-of-life care. Working with a network of support services we promote and develop person-centred approaches to patient care in Dundee. We aim to organise 1) a social support group for men affected by cancer (Breakfast Club) and 2) community-based cancer awareness and wellbeing workshops.
Tayside Nature Tots
Our project is an outdoor nature club aimed at 0-5year olds along with their carers in our local area. The club aims to provide time out of everyday busy lives to come together and spend time in nature. The club will provide a structured activity as well as time for encouraged free play and snack. Each session will be themed and include songs, story time and most importantly time for learning through play and exploring. We aim to provide a welcoming, relaxed and safe environment for children and carers to experience the wide range of benefits that being outdoors provides.

Where? Lifegate at Whitfield Parish Church, 14 Haddington Avenue, Dundee, DD4 0RN
When? Thursday 3rd May 2018, from 6pm to 8.30pm
How much? We suggest a donation on the door (or online pay it forward option) of £5 per person - all proceeds will go directly to the winning idea.
Who? This event is produced in partnership between ACK, Creative Dundee and The Circle for kindly organising Dundee Soup. Thanks to Shona Littlejohn for helping kick-start the first Dundee Soup to happen in the city in April 2017.
"It's a little bit of funding, it's a lot more empowering and it's even more about connectivity". Amy Kaherl, Detroit Soup founder. Find out more about Detroit Soup here.
