Event description

Description

Trekstock provides social and practical support for young adults in their 20's & 30's experiencing cancer across the UK.

The structure of the session will be -
  • 10 minutes of mindful breath awareness
  • 20 minutes of physical yoga practice
  • Around 50 minutes of yoga nidra.

This workshop is aimed at beginners, and the physical yoga will be based around floor seated, all-fours, kneeling, and lying postures - there will be no standing or balancing postures. The sequences that I've chosen, are intended to be restorative and gentle.

Yoga nidra is a deep, meditative, guided relaxation, in which there is no movement..just lying, chilling on your mat/on one of the sofas. It has been said that 1 hour of yoga nidra is as restorative as 3 hours of sleep! So I hope you will leave the session feeling both refreshed and relaxed.
You will be provided with a mat, blanket, block and strap for your practice so all you need bring is yourself!
Please ensure that you wear comfortable and unrestrictive clothing, and make sure you have a warm jumper with you to wear during yoga nidra. As there are no standing postures in this class, you may wear socks during your practice if you wish.

I'm Not Able to Practice Physical Yoga, Can I Still Participate?
If you're not up to practicing the physical yoga postures but would still like to enjoy the benefits of the workshop, you are most welcome to join the yoga nidra part of the session. Please let me know if you would like to do so.
There will be a few minutes for everyone to get comfy, nip to the loo etc before we start the relaxation so you can join us then. This will be at around 2.35pm but I will come out to greet you and welcome you into the room.
And if you don't fancy that, you can always join us for tea and cake at around 3.30pm! (You don't need to book for your tea and cake, just drop in!)
