Durga Puja is one of the most important ritual festivals of Hindus (specifically Bengali) all over the world. Apart from being a religious festival for the Hindus, it is also an occasion for reunion and rejuvenation, and a celebration of traditional culture and customs.
Durga Puja festival marks the victory of Durga , the ten armed Goddess riding on the lion over the evil buffalo demon. Thus, Durga Puja festival epitomizes the victory of Good over Evil. To the Hindu worshippers Durga is the destroyer of evil and the protector of her devotees.
Since last couple of years ‘Sammelani’, a Bengali cultural organization in Belgium has been celebrating this occasion in a broader spectrum with the active participation of all people irrespective of their color, creed, religion and culture upholding the universal message – “Religion for individual, celebration for all”
