Dusking: A Storytelling Gathering for the Turning Year
Overview
Looking for a moment to pause, breathe, and reflect, as our lives one again tilt towards oncoming winter?
Dusking is a new folk tradition, creating a moment of celebration as darkness creeps back into our skies.
This laid-back storytelling gathering is a chance to come together, listen to some atmospheric old tales, and creatively explore the folklore of darkening skies and changing seasons.
Our workshop will finish with a collective retelling of a traditional tale, as darkness gathers around us.
Dusking: A Storytelling Gathering is devised and hosted by professional storyteller Stephe Harrop: https://www.stepheharrop.co.uk/
About Dusking: Dusking is a new folk tradition, created by Leeds-based artist Lucy Wright. It aims to provide a moment of celebration, helping us feel more positive, more creative, and more connected, at the very start of winter. Dusking originated among folk dancers, but this gathering reimagines the celebration as a moment for storytelling, too. For more about Dusking see: https://tradfolk.co/art/writing/what-is-dusking/
About the venue: Dusking will take place in Studio 1 at the Bluecoat. Seating will be on yoga mats or a few low stools - no chairs are available in this space. All participants will need to remove their shoes on entry to the studio. For more details about the space see https://studio1atbc.simplybook
