Event description
DWP and Ipsos MORI invite you to a special Year of Marketing talk on Trust.

About this Event

As communicators in government, we strive to gain the trust of our audiences. With levels of trust frequently described as being in crisis, it can be easy to misconstrue this meaning and lose sight of the complexity of trust as a concept. Trust is all-encompassing, affected by every aspect of an organisation’s values, performance and behaviour. While there is no simple solution, we can be much more systemic in understanding when trust matters and what affects it.

Linking to the Trust Opportunity of the Government Communication Service’s Year of Marketing, DWP hosts a talk with Ashley Ames, Research Director at Ipsos MORI. Drawing on the organisation’s recent report Trust: The Truth?, this session challenges the notion of trust as being in terminal decline and considers:

  • Is there a crisis of trust, and how universal is it?
  • What is the impact of politics and new technology?
  • Does trust actually matter, and if so, to who?
  • Increasing trust vs. demonstrating trustworthiness
  • The effect of trust on our daily communications

This talk will be live streamed in the following locations:

  • Hartshead Square, Sheffield - Room G006
  • Quarry House, Leeds - Room GE07
