Event description

Description

This is the first screening of docuseries ‘Dylema the documentary’. This documentary is the first episode that follows Nigerian British Spoken word poet and jazz singer Dylema from 2015 to 2018. Speaking closely with her about the deep rooted messages in her work. Her reason for writing and the power she feels she gains as a woman through her particular profession as a poet.

This documentary shot by film maker Amaka Nwosu is a personable insight to what it feels like to be a poet like Dylema. It seems to also call out specifically to the diaspora. From the choice of Fela Kuti in the soundtrack to the subject herself Dylema being of dual nationality. This documentary briefly explores topics of cultire, tradition, race, gender and art.
