Event description
This year's exclusive members' dinner will take place in the River Terrace at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art once again.

About this Event

The evening will begin with a welcome drink and canapes on arrival; followed by a three course dinner with wine.

We are delighted to welcome Gail Gallie of Project Everyone as our guest speaker.

Originally from the North East, Gail has worked on both agency and client sides of the industry, across a broad range of sectors, but specialising in the area of media, arts, young people and charity. She was Marketing Director at the BBC for 10 years, where she was tasked with the rejuvenation of Children In Need. She was also behind the brand re-appraisal and re-design of Sport Relief and the renaming and re-branding of The Spastics Society to Scope. Gail spent 4 years as the CEO of London advertising agency Fallon.

She left Fallon to pursue a wholly purpose driven career and joined campaigner Richard Curtis to found Project Everyone, the campaign unit that launched the Global Goals on behalf of the United Nations.

Project Everyone seeks to put the power of communications behind the Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Goals. Their mission is to accelerate progress towards a fairer world by 2030, where extreme poverty has been eradicated, climate change is properly addressed, and injustice and inequality are unacceptable.

Gail is going to focus on how businesses can apply the global goals to innovation and business and will tell us how some tech companies have pivoted from their core business markets by applying their tech offer to global goal related endeavours. The UN global goals are reported to present a USD $3 trillion dollar global opportunity.

Gail will also cover the ethics of tech particularly around digital and AI - addressing bias in AI, and the inevitable discrimination that will come from that at scale. She will talk about how advancement in technology risks accelerating all the bad things in the world unless we intentionally intervene and focus the direction on the right areas.
