Course Content/Objectives

  • To have an understanding of the national picture in supporting dyslexia and inclusive practice
  • To identify dyslexia through using the identification pathway
  • Understanding and Reflecting on Inclusive Practice
  • Awareness of the importance of use of data; SEEMiS and overview from SQA
  • How IT can support and enhance the learners’ experience

Outcomes sought

  • Support practitioners to develop a deeper learning and understanding of dyslexia and inclusive practice;
  • Use the information to improve their practice and develop appropriate identification pathways and support approaches.
  • Inform practitioners about ways in which they might engage in meaningful Career Long Professional Learning (CLPL) for improving practice in supporting and improving outcomes for children and young people;
  • Encourage practitioners to be familiar with, and make appropriate use of, the Addressing Dyslexia Toolkit;
  • Support teachers in achieving Professional Recognition for areas of enhanced accomplishment in their professional practice.
