About this event

Health • Medical

This event will give a general overview of dysphagia (eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties). The aims of this session are to:

  • Increase awareness of dysphagia
  • Give you some practical strategies for supporting adults with dysphagia and learning disabilities
  • Develop your knowledge of when to refer to Speech and Language Therapy for assessment and support

Please note: Attendance at this event does not qualify you to assess dysphagia.

This event is only open to paid carers who are caring for an adult (or adults) with learning disabilities who are registered with a General Practitioner (GP) within the South Tyneside NHS boundary. You will be asked to provide evidence that you meet this criteria on the day of the training. You will be denied entrance to the event if you do not have proof of this or if you do not meet this criteria.

The entrance to Monkton Hall is via Campbell Park Road (circled in red on the map below). The car park is on the left as you turn in. The entrance is on the right as you enter the car park. Press the doorbell next to the door and wait for a response.
