Matina Balou, Assistant Professor and Speech Pathologist will be flying across the Atlantic to give this unique evening talk on current dysphagia practice in the USA with a particular focus on her research using high resolution manometry and videofluoroscopy at New York University Langone Medical Center. Please join us for a North American perspective on all things swallowing from across the ‘pond’. Tickets are free but limited and are available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Biography: Matina Balou is an Assistant Professor at the New York University School of Medicine and a speech language pathologist. Her clinical and research work focuses on understanding, preventing and treating dysphagia. Her current research goal is to develop treatment paradigms to improve upper airway dysfunction and swallow efficiency in patients with head and neck cancer and patients with spinal cord injury. She uses high resolution manometry and videofluoroscopy to understand the pressure foundations of swallowing components in the normal population and head & neck cancer patients treated with chemoradiation.
