EADTU organises a two-day Staff Training Event on support services in Open and Distance Teaching Universities. The event will be hosted by UniDistance Suisse (Brig, Switzerland). It is a unique opportunity for support staff to meet, share expertise, and learn from their peers about different ways to organise support structures for open, online and distance education.

Theme and target group

This EADTU Staff Event revolves around implementing and supporting (new) educational concepts, methodologies, frameworks, and tools within the domains of student services and IT across our universities.

The Event is open to staff of all EADTU member universities. We welcome support staff from across university disciplines, including marketing and communication, enrollment, student administration, alumni officers, IT development and support, e-learning support, (digital) online assessments and student services.

Programme

Suggested arrival is on Monday evening 02 June. The programme will start on Tuesday 03 June at 09:30 and end on Wednesday 04 June at 15:00 CEST.

The gathering will focus on AI policy & guidelines, strategies for staff & student engagement, learning platforms, interoperability, online assessment, as well as topics based on participants' expressed interests.

In addition to content discussions, there will be several networking opportunties, including a dinner and a (light) hike in the surroundings of Brig.

The event will take place at UniDistance Suisse (Schinerstrasse 18, Brig, Switserland).

Travel by train

Brig has a central train station, conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from UniDistance.

Travel by plane

We recommend arriving at either Zurich Airport (ZRH) or Geneva Airport (GVA). Both airports offer efficient train connections to Brig, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey.

From Zurich Airport: Trains to Brig take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, with a mix of direct routes and connections requiring 1–2 changes.

From Geneva Airport: Trains to Brig are mostly direct and take just over 2 hours and 30 minutes.

For participants needing financial support, funding is available for up to two participants per institution, ensuring their travel and accommodation costs are partially or fully covered. While funding is capped at two participants per institution, additional attendees are warmly welcomed to join the event at their own cost or through other funding sources.
