This webinar will provide a practical overview of The Bell Foundation EAL Assessment Framework for Schools Version 2.0. It will feature a user-focused introductory guide to working with the newly developed EAL Assessment Tracker, which has been designed to support teachers and pupils throughout the assessment process. The webinar will finish by providing practical tips for practitioners on using the Framework and Tracker within a school setting.

Biography:

Emily Curran joined The Bell Foundation as a trainer in September 2018. Prior to joining The Bell Foundation, Emily worked in English Language Teaching (ELT) and taught both adults and young learners in the UK and Thailand respectively, before going on to become a teacher trainer in the ELT sector. Emily has a CELTA and DELTA and has also worked closely with Cambridge Refugee Resettlement Campaign (CRRC) as a liaison for the English Language Provision.

Katherine Solomon originally joined The Bell Foundation in 2014 as an Associate, and became the Foundation’s Training Manager in 2017. Prior to joining the Foundation, Katherine spent two years working as a primary school teacher and then seven years in academic management. She has worked as a teacher trainer in the UK and overseas. She holds PGCE Primary, CELTA and DELTA qualifications and an MA in Applied Linguistics and ELT. Katherine's professional interests include language assessment and working in partnership with schools to improve provision for EAL learners.

The webinar uses Adobe Connect, for the best user experience please ensure you have the latest version of the Adobe Connect app installed on your device. We recommend that you access the session at 3.45pm on Thursday 17 October 2019 as the technical team will be available to assist if you have any questions.

Full joining instructions, Adobe troubleshooting and the webinar URL will be issued a few days before the session. When you receive the webinar URL please check that it takes you to the event room, if not, please email info@bell-foundation.org.uk. Please note that you will not be able to log in to the webinar event room in advance i.e. before 3.45pm on Thursday 17 October. Please check your ‘junk’ folder if you have not received this information 24 hours before the event.

We are aware that some participants are unable to attend the webinar on the day and as a result we over-issue tickets to ensure the session is full. Through our experience of hosting webinars we have calculated the likely drop out rate in order to have a full event, however, we do not want to disappoint people. Therefore, to be as fair as possible we admit ticket holders on a first come first served basis on the day. We will be most grateful if you would cancel your ticket if you know you will not be able to attend.
