Approaches to ensure inclusion, progress and accurate assessment of bilingual children in Foundation Stage settings.

Course outline:

• Some theory - understanding the difference between first language learning and additional language acquisition (EAL)

• Creating a welcoming setting for EAL children and their families

• Designing learning opportunities which support understanding and English language development for EAL children

• Introduction to our English language progress tracking tools for EAL children, developed alongside our Early Years consultant team

• Introduction to our multilingual resource to support first language assessments in Early Years mathematics

• Introduction to the new ESOL Stepping Stones course for EAL mothers and their babies/toddlers

Audience: Teaching staff, designated staff and other interested colleagues who work with pupils who use English as an additional language.

An Indian lunch is provided at 12:30.

Cost: £100 per delegate.

Free to Schools/Academies who have purchased an IDEAL package.

Free to register a place (£0 will relate to free registration only. Schools/Academies will be invoiced separately after the training date).
