Description

Course Outline - This course is a follow up on the Keynote Speech by Katharine Saunders made at the INA Conference, in October 2017.

Target audience: Primary teachers and teaching assistants

This course focuses on best provision for English as an additional language (EAL) learners in the primary classroom

The training will address the following:

  • Understanding the distinctiveness of EAL pedagogy and the theory and research underpinning it;
  • Planning to provide support and appropriate challenge in teaching and learning;
  • Practical ideas and strategies to support access to the curriculum and language development;
  • Tools to assess, monitor progress and set next step targets.

  • Practical approaches to apply immediately in class to support language development curriculum access and assessment
