Welcome to the Ealing Woodcraft Folk Open Session!
Woodcraft Folk is the co-operative movement for children and young people. We believe passionately in equality and co-operation and everyone is welcome to join us.
We help children and young people to understand important issues about the world: the environment, world debt, global conflict and sustainable development. The work we do supports our young members to build a peaceful, fairer world, and to develop their own ideas, their self-confidence and their skills. We work to ensure that young people’s voices are listened to and amplified, so they can take an active role in shaping our world and their future.
Every week thousands of volunteers and young people meet in school halls, community venues and a host of other places. There they learn about big ideas through fun activities like singing, camping, playing and debating. Woodcraft Folk Homepage - Woodcraft Folk
The Ealing Woodcraft Folk group are a well established group run by volunteers Ealing & Hammersmith Woodcraft Folk. Our weekly groups involve an exciting mix of games, craft, discussion, debate, music and drama. We also learn about local and global issues in ways that are fun and age appropriate.
A typical group programme might involve:
- a night walk to experience the sounds of a wood, park or city in the dark
- making lanterns to light round a campfire
- playing a ‘wide game’ such as Capture the Flag in a local park
- Cooking together with Fairtrade ingredients and discussion how Fairtrade supports farmers in the Global South
Our groups are warm and welcoming to all. For this open session we will be making friendship bracelets, badges and doing other fun activities so you can get a real flavour for the group.
