About this event

Come and join us for some Autumn foraging, with special emphasis on the edible fungi, fruits and nuts which are putting in an appearance at this time of year!

We will wind our way through stunning meadow, hedgerow and woodland, ablaze with colour, to a backdrop of beautiful birdsong, immersing ourselves in nature and following an endless treasure trail of all that autumn has to offer!

We will identify edible fungi as well as pointing out those to avoid… share harvesting, preparation and preservation tips and follow up with tasty recipes.

We will also discuss a little of the folklore and medicinal properties of these incredible plants and fungi.

You will be in good hands, with a Chinese Medicine therapist and chef running the day! Both with many years of foraging experience and members of the Association of Foragers 💚

Along the way we will ply you with a raft of tasty treats to get your taste buds dancing and inspire you to create your own wild food at home!

By the end of the session you should be confidently identifying prize edibles and fungi, as well as knowing what to avoid… and heading home with a broad grin and a head buzzing with inspiration!

We look forward to meeting you!

Please remember that no two days are the same and unpredictable weather means there are no guarantees about what we will find!

Fungi in particular follows no predictable calendar!

Our foraging routes are carefully selected however to offer you a full and varied experience.

Information for the day..

*Bring PLENTY of clothing options (layers) and shoe options…and have something in your car to change into in case you get wet! A towel or dryrobe is a good idea.

*The weather can change quickly so you need to be ready for all eventualities.

*Waterproof jacket.

*Wellies or walking boots.

*Bring a bottle of water and possibly a hot drink.

*Please bring a fork, spoon, small bowl and a cup each for tasting samples.

We do not provide a meal as such but substantial snacks and samples. If you have a big appetite have breakfast

*A note book and pen is always useful, and don’t forget to charge your phone for all those pics!

*Hand gel/ wipes

*Hat/insect repellent may be needed.

*Rucksack or basket for collecting.

We try to discourage the use of plastic bags… most supermarkets now sell reusable net bags in the veg section …we recommended these as they are more environmentally friendly, very cheap and fantastic for collecting wild plants.

PLEASE!!

🔴Let us know of any food allergies we should be aware of in plenty of advance. If you are purchasing a ticket as a gift we also require their contact details 🔴

All samples provided on the day will be vegetarian/vegan

There are no public toilets during the day so please be prepared to wild wee!

If you have any questions at all, please get in touch!

We are looking forward to you joining us for a wonderful day in West Yorkshire.

You can look forward to sampling some tasty Seasonal foraged wild food creations.

You will be in good hands, with a holistic Chinese Medicine and chef running the day! Both with many years of foraging experience.

No two days are the same, it is difficult to predict a strict running order, so we will allow nature & plants to dictate the way the day unfolds! Of course, due to the unpredictability of nature and the seasons, we also can’t predict what we will find on the day. Nature gives no guarantees!
