Event description

Description

Coventry is preparing to launch its new Early Help Assessment (EHA), which will replace the previous Common Assessment Framework(CAF). This is an important landmark in our journey in Early Help to do things differently . The Early Help Assessment is Coventry’s approach to working with families, and assists professionals in understanding the causes of difficulties and to identify and deliver the best and most appropriate support to the family. The Early Help Assessment will be used to assess the needs of the child, young person and family. It provides a framework for professionals and families to work together to improve outcomes for children, utilising the Signs of Safety approach to conducting an assessment of the needs of a child or young person and enabling the family to decide how those needs should be met.

All services providing Early Help in Coventry, where a child’s needs are likely to need to be met by a co-ordinated multiagency plan, will be required to undertake an early help assessment and therefore this training will enable practitioners to undertake this assessment and to develop holistic Early Help plans with families. Many practitioners from across the Early Help partnership have been involved in the development of this new assessment, and so all practitioners are required to attend to understand the final version that has been agreed following feedback from partners, and families. The training will also help us consider our practice and ensure that the EHA and the resulting EH Plan ensures that the needs of children, young people and their families are at the heart of all we do.
