About this event

'Early Recordings: the Impacts of a Transformative Technology' is a one-day interdisciplinary conference hosted by Cardiff University in collaboration with the Bern University of the Arts, and with the support of the Institute of Musical Research and the Royal Musical Association.

The event is focussed on the wider cultural and social impact of the technological development and dissemination of early recordings. The day will include a wide-ranging selection of papers from early career researchers and senior academics and a final round table including Amy Blier-Carruthers (Royal Academy of Music), Tim Boon (Science Museum), Janet Topp-Fargion (British Library), Daniel Leech-Wilkinson (King’s College London) and Richard Wistreich (Royal College of Music).

The conference is free to attend but registration is required. The Zoom link will be circulated shortly before the 21st July.
