Description

Come and experience what it’s like to study Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London by attending our Earth Day taster day on 20 June 2019. All year 12 and 13 students are welcome and the day will be of particular interest to students keen to learn more about conservation, the earth and the environment.

The day will cover different aspects of earth and the environment, human and physical geography in a mix of lecture, tutorial and workshop sessions.

During the sessions, students will have the opportunity to explore the following key themes in greater depth:

  • Climate change, Natural and Anthropogenic and what it means for the future.

  • Challenging environments, from cold to hyper arid. How have they influenced the human past and what might the future hold?

  • Extinction, Biodiversity and Ecology understanding the past and dealing with the future.

  • The challenges of sustainable development.

  • Activism and how geography can inform geopolitics.

  • Representations of Earth, how do we make the most of imagery and representation of the Earth for promoting conservation.
