Learn about alternative economic and social models for the future from leading experts and environmental activists!
About this event
Join us for an enlightening discussion about the climate crisis and learn about alternative socio-economic models for the future from a panel of world-leading environmental activists and academics.
We currently live in an exploitative, consumerist world system that is destroying our planet and the people who live on it. Our future is in peril, but what if there was a way to turn it around? What if we could make human life more sustainable and build societies where equality and the environment are the priority?
In celebration of Earth Day, the Arkbound Foundation will be hosting a panel of speakers who will be sharing their perspective on the future of our planet. Each speaker will explore real-life case studies from communities across the world that are already learning to adapt to climate change, build sustainable models of recovery and engage with alternative systems that balance human potential with the protection of the planet. After the presentations, we will be running a Q&A for the audience to ask their questions and discuss the topics together.
Speakers:
Ashish Kothari, environmental activist who has been on the Board of Greenpeace, taught at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, and co-founded the Indian environmental group, Kalpavriksh.
Dr. Ester Barinaga, Professor at Lund University in Copenhagen whose research focuses on alternative economic and social initiatives that are contributing to sustainable economies, inclusive cities, and resilient communities.
Fazeela Mubarak, environmental activist working on community based conservation and regeneration in Lamu, Kenya.
The Arkbound Foundation is a social enterprise that supports authors from diverse backgrounds and publishes stories, academic reports and books that focus on social and environmental topics.
