About this Event

East and West in Conversation: Embodying Sound through the Violin

Dr Preetha Narayanan (Guildhall School)

What does the confluence of Indian and Western Classical improvisation reveal about the expression and aesthetic of each style and that of the resulting new creation? Drawing on her bi-musical background and recent artistic research, Dr. Preetha Narayanan (Guildhall School of Music & Drama)  demonstrates and discusses how she mediates these two aesthetic worlds physically and sonically through the violin, in dialogue with improvising collaborators.
