Join us at Sideshore Community for this day long training session, learning all about the Devon Marine Strandings Network; marine mammal identification; H&S and how to collect data on dead marine wildlife during the morning session.
In the afternoon we will head down on to the beach (weather dependent) to run a simulated strandings call-out, using life-sized models, to train you in recording, health and safety, and retrieval procedures. This will be a fun day, but with a serious purpose.
The training costs £17.50 and booking is essential as places are limited. At the end of the day, you will be qualified to join Devon Wildlife Trust's Marine Strandings Volunteer Network (MSN) and will register to become a DWT Volunteer. You will then receive a digital training pack via email.
You will need to bring your own lunch, and be sure to bring warm clothes, water proofs and sensible shoes with you for the afternoon outdoor session.
PLEASE NOTE: This training is for (adult) East Devon residents who will go on to volunteer to attend strandings along the Esat Devon coastline (Exmouth-Seaton). There are separate courses for South and North Devon residents (see our events page).
The closest car park is Queen's Drive Echelon Car Park - EX8 2AY.
