The East End of London has always been shaped by the people who call it home but whose stories often don’t get told, which is why Gateway Housing Association who are celebrating 90 years in the East End are bringing to the Brick Lane Gallery, their fascinating and unique exhibition, East End the Place We Call Home.
By using their own extensive archive Gateway’s exhibition promises a never been seen before look at the lives behind the front door at the people and place that make our East End - home.
We will hear about incredible East End residents and the unsung heroes who dedicated their lives to the East End such as the feisty Edith Ramsay and the remarkable Ayub Ali Master. It showcases those who fought the poverty of the slums to bring better homes and the innovative architects who designed them.
This timely exhibition gives us a chance to reflect on the lives that have and continue to make the East End, the place we call home.
