About this Event

East Kent Plein Air 2020 is an open air painting event open to all artists both amateur and professional. The Artists are free to paint anywhere in and around the historic town of Sandwich Kent.

Artists are invited to create a single artwork within the allotted time of six hours on Saturday 13th June 2020. The work will be exhibited on the following day, Sunday 14th June in St Peter’s Church Sandwich where awards will be presented, all work being on sale throughout the day.

East Kent Plein 2020 is working in conjunction with “Le Weekend”, a two day event celebrating links with France with an authentic French Market on the Guildhall Forecourt on both Saturday and Sunday, with extra stalls in Market Street. There will be lots of free outdoor live music on both days in Market Street and a French Breton street dancing party in No Name Street on both days.

There will be an Anglo French Medieval encampment on both days on the quay green. On the Sunday, Sandwich will be celebrating Le Tour de France with a local cycle race, Le Tour de Sandwich!

Artists will register at St Peter’s Church at 10.00am on Saturday 13th June, their work will be stamped on the back and they will be provided with an info pack. They will then be free to explore the town with its ancient buildings and historic quay.

The deadline for handing in work will be at 4.00pm on Saturday afternoon.

Hanging will take place overnight with judging on Sunday. The exhibition will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm in St Peter’ Church where awards will be presented.
