Business Lincolnshire is delighted to be sponsoring the workshop zone at this year’s East Lindsey Business Expo. We will be hosting three sessions throughout the day, designed to support your business to grow.

Whether you’re looking for innovative ways to promote your business on a budget, guidance on the right social media platform for growth or help devising a digital strategy for diversifying into international markets, our expert presenters will be on hand to share practical advice and top tips.

To qualify for this funded support, your organisation must be a small to medium enterprise (SME) based in Lincolnshire. Apologies, no support intermediaries or public bodies.

Am I eligible?

These workshops are available for businesses, partnerships, sole traders and registered charities, with a trading address located within Lincolnshire.

To access the workshop sessions, you must complete an SME enrolment form in order to check your business’ eligibility against the funding criteria. The form will be sent to you on completion of an Eventbrite booking – if one has not already been completed and on file.

The workshops are being organised in partnership with East Lindsey District Council. By registering to attend, you give your consent for booking data to be shared with them.

WORKSHOP OVERVIEWS

Workshop Session One: Which social media platforms are the right ones for growing your business?

Do you want your business to be seen, not just by more people, but by more people in the right geographical area who are likely to be interested in your products or services?

Last year 83% of the UK adult population was using some type of social media. It is a fantastic tool not only for communicating with people who already know about you, such as your customers, but also for getting your business in front of people who have never heard of you but really should have!

If you are using social media already, are you using the right social media platform for your business? James Hopkins, Digital Consultant at DBS Internet Marketing, will explore the four key social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram – providing an overview of what they are, who uses them (and more importantly whether your ideal customers are) and how having a presence on them can help to promote your business, in order to help you to decide which platform is right for growing your business.

Since joining DBS in January 2011, James has worked in a number of roles driving traffic and enquiries to clients’ websites through a range of digital marketing strategies including social media, search engine optimisation, content marketing and pay per click advertising.

Workshop Session Two: Introduction to international website optimisation and digital marketing

The world is shrinking by the day and having access to the internet, including via smart phones, means borders are no longer a barrier.

An effective digital presence enables you to identify potential customers, understand their needs and behaviours and establish a way of managing traffic, either to grow brand awareness, facilitate consumer research into your products or services or attract new leads and customers.

By attending this workshop, delivered by Charlotte Tomlinson, Head of SEO at Hallam Internet Ltd, you will learn how to create an action plan for an international digital strategy which will include:

  • Showing you how to use online research tools
  • Helping you plan for international website optimisation
  • Looking at creating a strategic approach to social media and social commerce
  • Understanding how digital lead generation and international B2B can help attract and grow customers from around the world

As Head of SEO at Hallam, Charlotte manages a team of specialists alongside developing digital marketing strategies for a portfolio of B2B and B2C clients, ranging from SMEs to large international businesses. She specialises in SEO and content marketing.

Workshop Session Three: How do I promote my business? – Low cost and inspirational ideas to give your business impact

Starting a business on a shoestring? Looking for ways to stretch your marketing budget? Promoting a business is an ongoing challenge for any small business, whether you are starting out or have been going for years. Delivered by Lesley Pashley, Director of Nettl and Redlime, this session will give you practical, low-cost ideas on how to add impact to your marketing communications.

Lesley has spent over 30 years both in-house and within agencies, working with SMEs from a broad spectrum of industries. Specialising in business-to-business marketing communications, Lesley’s passion is helping organisations develop their branding, marketing materials and marketing plans in order to grow.

She is a member of the Executive of Newark and Grantham Business Clubs, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has worked with the Prince’s Trust as a mentor to start-up businesses.
