NWES (Score):

SCORE is a £6million grant fund supporting small and medium sized companies that are developing new technologies. Grants are available for up to 40% of eligible costs or £50,000, whichever is the lower, with a minimum grant of £2,500.


Innovate 2 Succeed, delivered by Exemplas, is a fully-funded innovation mentoring programme designed to support ambitious and established SMEs in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire commercialise new products or services. Fully funded by Innovate UK and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the programme can help eligible businesses in a variety of ways including supporting the development of new products or new services, exploring new market opportunities, exploiting and protecting intellectual property and implementing commercial strategy. EEN (Enterprise Europe Network):

Enterprise Europe Network helps you make sense of the funding and finance opportunities available to your business.

We can advise you on the best ways to secure funding from sources such as grants, loans and equity investment as well as through R&D tax credits.

We can help you shape your business plan and put you in touch with the right investors, business angels, venture capitalists and banks.

The Business Energy Efficiency Cambridge & Peterborough programme (BEECP) aims to provide support and grants to small businesses to help catalyse investment in energy efficiency initiatives, to reduce carbon emissions and realise the associated business benefits including; reduced operating costs, increased competitiveness, business growth and resilience.

The project is offering two strands of support to help businesses improve resource efficiency;

Energy Reviews – A fully funded on-site review to help identify, prioritise and quantify opportunities for cost and carbon savings for your business. Additional support will be available to help businesses identify specific solutions and products, with detailed feasibility studies as required.

Capital Grants – Qualifying businesses may be able to apply for a capital grant – up to a maximum of 25% or £20,000, whichever is the lower – to help catalyse investment in products and solutions that will reduce energy use.
The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project is bringing together experienced organisations and energy efficiency practitioners led by Peterborough Environment City Trust, and delivered in partnership with Nwes and Groundwork.

Carbon Trust:


The START2ACT programme provides free-of-charge energy efficiency training and mentoring, online energy saving advice and breakfast events to young SMEs and startups in the UK. The focus of the programme is to identify low and no cost measures in office-based companies, and setting environmental policies to limit impact as the businesses grow. This programme is funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme, and the Carbon Trust is one of 10 partners across Europe to be implementing the fully-funded START2ACT activities over the next 2 years. All startups are eligible for this programme, and young SMEs must have <50 employees and have been operating for <5 years.

Green Business Fund
The Carbon Trust Green Business Fund is the brand new energy efficiency support service for small and medium-sized companies in England, Wales and Scotland. It provides direct funded support through energy assessments, training workshops, equipment procurement support and up to £10,000 capital contribution per company towards your energy saving equipment purchase.

The Environment Now:

Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire Claylands LAG

LEADER is a community-led scheme that provides funding for projects in England which create jobs, help businesses and rural communities to grow and develop the rural economy. The Local Action Groups from Beds and Hunts Claylands and Cambridgeshire Fens are attending the exhibition to promote the scheme in their local areas.

Under the LEADER scheme there are grants for:

  1. increasing farm productivity

  2. supporting micro and small businesses and farm diversification

  3. boosting rural tourism

  4. providing rural services

  5. providing cultural and heritage activity

  6. increasing forestry productivity

The grants are funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and are part of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE).

Opportunity Peterborough:

Opportunity Peterborough was founded in 2005 as an urban regeneration company. Five years later our remit evolved to lead the city’s economic development. We’re a private not-for-profit business, wholly owned by Peterborough City Council.

Leader funding:

Available for business and community projects in rural Peterborough and Rutland. If you are a local business, farm, involved in tourism or a community initiative which will generate jobs or growth in the rural economy, then you could be eligible for a Leader grant.

Money Matters:

Money Matters specialise in the provision of finance to small and medium sized businesses offering free impartial advice without obligation. Our innovative product portfolio focuses on one basic business need – the need to keep cash flowing.

Low Carbon Innovation Fund:

The Low Carbon Innovation Fund (LCIF) is a venture capital fund, providing equity finance for SME’s based wholly or partially in the East of England. LCIF co-invests alongside private sector investors such as founders, angel investors and/or other funds to provide finance to early and growth stage businesses in a variety of sectors to enable them to develop. The fund runs in two streams, LCIF Smaller Investment Scheme which invests between £25k and £75k, and the main fund which invests between £75k and £1M.

Department of International Trade (DIT):

Our standard offerings range from just advice and guidance; using the expertise of our Embassies worldwide; support funding for exhibiting overseas; to matched grant funding (available in some but not all regions) and potentially, the provision of Interim Export Managers to help companies get their export business moving.

Our mission is to assist SME’s in starting to export or in growing an existing export business; to this end, you can join our events, seminars and workshops or we can visit you to discuss your plans, exchange ideas and to see in what way we may be able to help.
