Please join us for an exciting day, where the Regional Commissioner, together with the County Commissioners and the Regional Services Team will be providing an opportunity for you as key volunteer managers to come together to share your knowledge and gain a better understanding of your role in working together with other volunteer managers towards the 2018 Vision.

The day will consist of the following workshops, some have been specifically tailored to your role:

  • Feeling Valued Being a GSL is not always easy, or is it?

Looking at your role, priorities, decision making and your focus on the support available to you and your Group

  • It’s all in the Team Work As a DC where do I start?

As a DC your role is forever evolving and more demands being put on you. A workshop to consider different ways of working with people, achieving results in growth, retention and sustainability.

  • We are all in this Together DESCs & SNCs making sure you are part of the wider Team

Your role sees you working with a multiple of sections, relationships are key, perhaps working flexibly to meet the needs of everyone, but still achieving results in growth, retention and sustainability.

  • We need more volunteers! But we have tried everything!

Every Section, Group, District we challenge you to share some good practice, bring along and listen to others amazing successes, whilst picking up hints and tips on what else you can try!

  • Making the most of our Volunteers They were here last week and now they’ve gone!

Looking and understanding the volunteer journey. Do we need to be considering doing things differently. Why do some volunteers leave? Utilising all the skills that we have available to us.

  • Hey I want to talk to you! I thought I was a good communicator?

Different people like to communicate in different ways, exploring the different methods, offering solutions to that very limited attendance at your AGMs and sharing positive experiences when it's worked well.

  • What’s in it for me? I would really like to know!

Apart from the local fundraising, what else is available and what other options may be open to you and your Groups District to help support Scouting.

  • How does Scout Network work in reality? Being A SNC is a great role!

With the recent launch of the Scout Network webpage, how can it help you to engage with those that you need to? Where Network has been successful what have you done differently. An opportunity to share good practice.

  • Looking to the future Are we ready for it?

What preparation, planning has your larger Team done towards the future? Looking at priorities in the short, medium and longer term. Working to find solutions to support sections with low numbers, looking at where there are opportunities for expanding scouting.

There will also be a marketplace running throughout the day offering you the following opportunties:

  • Order or purchase items from Scout Shops

  • Spend time talking to experts to get free information and assistance

  • Each County will have a stall. If you have something that you want promoted let your County know.

  • An opportunity to meet the NEW Regional Services Team who support you in the East of England and gain a clear understanding on the types of projects they might be able to work on with you.
