East of England Regional Gathering and Planning Power Up
Date and time
Description
The Friends of the Earth East of England Regional Gathering has been combined with a day of free Planning Power Up training with Naomi Luhde-Thompson, Planning Specialist at Friends of the Earth!
So come along to get clued up and empower yourself to win campaigns through the planning system. Please arrive at 09.30am for a 10.00am start!
This day is aimed at giving you and your community an introduction to the local planning systems and skills necessary to win successful campaigns against local development that is socially and environmentally degrading.
An understanding of planning is one of the most important tools you can have as a campaigner. As such, the day will focus on:
- Our rights under the planning system
- The planning system - its strengths and its flaws
- How to influence planning decisions.
Here is our tentative agenda for the day:
- 09.30 Coffee and Arrivals
- 10.00 Welcome and housekeeping
- 10.15 Introductions and update from the network
- 11.30 Coffee Break
- 11.45 What is the planning system? How does it work? What can you do?
- 13.00 Lunch
- 13.45 Planning Power Up Your local plan: why is it important?
- 15.30 Coffee break
- 15.45 Planning Power Up continued
- 16.45 Wrap up and Close
- 17.00 Clean Up
The training will be tailored to the needs of the group on the day. You also have a chance during the booking process to let us know any experience or specific questions you might have about planning so that we can do our best to incorporate it into the training.
Please share amongst your contacts locally and invite allies who you think might be interested! This training is not to be missed for groups who are engaged with planning concerns or who would like to be!
Please remember to bring a lunch to share! (Teas, coffees and some snacks will be provided)
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 24 February! (If you are only able to come for part of the day, that is fine, but please specify on your RSVP).
