About this event

Charity & Causes • Environment

Craiglockhart Hill is above Craiglockhart Sports Centre and as one of Edinburgh's seven hills, offers excellent views across the city towards the castle and Arthur's Seat. The area is owned jointly by the City of Edinburgh Council and Napier University. We will be working with the Friends of Craiglockhart Nature Trail who have produced a management plan and a trail leaflet, and continue to manage the site for wildlife.

In previous tasks on this LNR LCV has raked meadow areas, cleared vegetation from the large pond, removed invasive rushes and garden plants from surrounding areas, and carried out further maintenance jobs .

On this visit we will be raking the wildflower meadow to reduce nutrient levels and maintain the diverse range of plants, plus any other incidental tasks at this popular local nature reserve.

We encourage volunteers to use our minibus for transport. If you live near this task and wish to make your own way you must ring Debbie on 01313370223 to book a space and for joining instructions.

Please bring your lunch and wear appropriate footwear (boots or wellingtons) and waterproof outdoor clothing.

NEW VOLUNTEERS Please only book one task initially. If you do not attend without letting us know, we may cancel any additional task bookings. If you are under 18 you will need to be accompanied by a guardian. Please contact us to discuss arrangements for volunteering with us, or whether other organisations might be more appropriate.

You can check our website lcv.org.uk for further information and frequently asked questions.
