Event description

Description

Sean O'Brien's 2015 collection was called The Beautiful Librarians - which inclines us to like him. Ahead of an appearance by O'Brien himself in the SPL, this is a great chance to acquaint or re-acquaint yourself with his work. Born in Hull in 1952, he is one of only two poets (the other being John Burnside, also reading at the SPL this spring) to have won both the T.S. Eliot Prize and the Forward Poetry Prize for the same collection of poems.

Easy Morning Poems reading group sessions take one poet and a clutch of his or her poems. It's suitable for people who both know the poet under discussion well or known nothing about them. The sessions are relaxed, comfortable and an excellent way to start the weekend.

The SPL is fully accessible, with a ground-floor entrance and a lift that accesses all three floors. There is one adapted toilet on the basement floor. Guide and hearing dogs are welcome. A portable audio loop is available for single user; if you need a multi-user loops system, please let us know as far as possible in advance.
