Easy Peasy Pattern Cutting: Basic Top
Ever wanted to learn how to draft a pattern and make up the garment over two sessions? This two part sewing workshop will allow participants to learn and create a basic women’s top using a commercial pattern with Talula.
Part 1: 27th September 2016
Pattern Drafting and Manipulation
Learning the basic skills required to master the art of ‘commercial dressmaking’ and to draft a simple top with/without sleeves. You will also get the opportunity to learn how to manipulate the pattern and make alterations for further designs.
This can include changing the shape of the hem or neckline, adding a ruffle, zip opening, side splits or any shortening or lengthening of the top that you may require.
Part 2: 28th September 2016
Sewing and Making of Garment
With your chosen fabrics and trims, you will have a one on one discussion with the tutor in this the second part of the session. This will allow for any final adjustments and changes before completing the garment.
Using the pattern you will cut the garment and stitch it together using the sewing machines provided.

The pattern for the basic top will be provided and you can bring your own materials, tools, trims and fabrics or you may wish to purchase them from our community shop.
