 Easy peasy PJ trousers- an intro to dressmaking

  • Do you want to start dressmaking using patterns but haven't a clue about all the terminology?
  • Are you itching to get started making your own clothes, but too terrified to get the tissue pattern out of the packet? 

Working with a simple pyjama pattern you”ll quickly understand how to go from tissue pattern, to fabric, to machine.

simple Pj Trousers

What you'll learn:

  • Learn how to decypher the strange code of bought dressmaking patterns
  • Understand the importance of lining up the fabric’s straight of grain
  • How to make a simple elasticated waist band
  • Choice of either adult or children's pattern available please specify before the class

Kid's pj option

Cost: £47 (max 6 places per class)
Time: 2 pm – 6 pm. weekends, 6.30- 9.30 weeknights. Arrive on time, as session starts promptly
Materials required: Please bring 2.6m of woven fabric for your Pj’s! ( more details in booking confirmation)
Refreshments: Unlimited tea, coffee and biscuits provided

Learn to sew with Claire-Louise Hardie, The Sewing Producer and Mastermind for The Great British Sewing Bee! She's a Professional Costumier with an impressive CV of employers that includes-
ITV:The RSC:The Royal National Theatre:BBC: Regent’s Park open air Theatre and “The Audience” with Dame Helen Mirren.

 

I have a passion for teaching beginners to sew!

 

When not teaching at The Thrifty Studio I'm also a Love sewing Magazine columnist: A Sewing Bee Author: Pattern Designer and a Masters student at London College of Fashion

My first book: ``The Great British Sewing Bee- Fashion with Fabric`` won best sewing book 2015 in the British Sewing Awards.

Some of my masters research work is currently part of the Balenciaga Exhibition at The V and A Museum. 

 

I offer small sized, friendly sewing classes and courses in Stoke Newington North London. 

My mission is to de-mystify the art of sewing and clothes making, showing you just how easy and fun it can be. We offer a range of contemporary sewing classes, suitable for adults at all levels. Fitting is our passion, and we love to helping students make clothes that fit.
