To celebrate the 250th anniversary of her birth, join the Portico Kitchen for an afternoon of thoughtful conversation and delectable bites centred on the work of Jane Austen.

This intimate event will feature a curated selection of dishes enjoyed by Austen’s characters, using food as an entry point to discuss the great novelist’s world, works and legacy. Enjoy rout cake, cheese boards, spruce beer and more underneath the Portico’s regency period glass dome, immersing yourself in the tastes that defined Austen’s world.

Conversation will be guided by Amy Etherington, Portico Kitchen staff member and MA in Literature with a specific interest in gothic and women’s fiction from the 19th century.

Ticket price includes entrance to the event and a small lunch menu of historic dishes, tea and coffee.

If you have any specialist dietary requirements, please enquire ahead of booking on by emailing kitchen@theportico.org.uk . We will do our best to accommodate these where we can, however, due to the nature of this event, this may not always be possible.
