The purpose of this session is to help participants to understand more about eating disorders in young people and how to seek professional help whilst also maintaining a safe and supportive environment at home. The explosion of eating disorders since COVID has meant that many families are needing to support their loved one for longer periods of time whilst waiting for the professional help and support to become available.
The session will consider all types of eating disorders and why it is so important to keep calm and try to see the world through the lens of the patient. Participants will learn that the ideal balance is one in which parents/carers are firm with the illness, whilst being kind, compassionate and supportive with their loved one. Having the patience of a saint will always be helpful.

This webinar is designed with parents and carers of loved ones with an eating disorder in mind. It is also perfect for school, college and university staff (teachers, boarding staff, support staff, school nurses, school counsellors) who are likely to be supporting young people with eating disorders. Anyone working in or interested in the field of eating disorders is also very welcome.
