Why should I learn more about Eating Disorders?
Eating Disorders are often highlighted for being the mental health illnesses with the highest mortality rate. They are also particularly complex conditions that tend to be very misunderstood and are highly stigmatized. Many Counselors / Therapists choose not to work with clients with Eating Disorders and instead (perhaps rightly so) refer such individuals to specialist services. However, in recent times these specialist services have often been criticized for exceptionally long waiting lists (in some areas this is 12+ months) and for having stringent referral criteria that not all clients meet. This might lead us to wanting to understand more about the topic, or to wondering if and how we might work with these clients…...? These would have been very valid questions and thoughts in 2019 – but, during the current pandemic, Eating Disorder Charities and services have seen a huge increase in demand for services - so it even more important now!
If YOU want to learn more, this workshop series is the perfect place to start. Let's smash stereotypes, stigma and scales by getting educated.
This workshop will be hosted on the Zoom meeting platform where we will use our camera and microphones to interact with each other as a group.
To support practitioners in this time of extraordinary circumstances we are offering access to this group for a self-select fee.
The self-select fee is a radical inclusion policy to open learning for all colleagues. The guide price for this event is £20.00, however, we appreciate that income varies greatly in different locations and circumstances. Please contribute what you can to help us maintain inclusive professional training.
