Join us for our monthly book club where we will be discussing our latest read. This month, we're discussing pages 170-200 of chapter 4 of "The Message" by Ta Nehisi Coates. This is a book about words, writing and storytelling. We take our time to take apart what the book is about and understand the parallels to other parts of history and current affairs.

About The Message:

A timely book about his journeys to three sites of conflict - Dakar, South Carolina, and Palestine - exploring how the stories we tell, and the ones we don’t, shape our realities.

Ta-Nehisi Coates originally set out to write a book about writing, but soon found himself grappling with deeper questions about the destructive myths that shape our world.

About Ta-Nehisi Coates:

Ta-Nehisi Paul Coates is an American author and journalist. Coates gained a wide readership during his time as national correspondent at The Atlantic, where he wrote about cultural, social, and political issues, particularly regarding African Americans and white supremacy. Coates is the author of "The Beautiful Struggle", "We were eight years in power", "The Water Dancer" and "Between the world and me", which won the National Book Award in 2015. He is the recipient of a National Magazine Award and a MacArthur Fellowship. He is currently the Sterling Brown endowed chair at Howard University in the English Department.
