PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE TO DARK HORSE, DUE TO DEMAND
Twenty years after the Good Friday Agreement, what is the long-term impact of the Troubles on Northern Ireland? What will it take to move the frozen peace process forward?
Join author Vicky Cosstick, Northern Slant, artist Rita Duffy and other guests to discuss her upcoming e-book Don’t Mention the War: Exploring Aspects of the Legacy of the Northern Ireland Troubles and examine the role and responsibilities of political and other leaders in our society who can help ‘unfreeze’ the peace. The event will be chaired by the Editor of Northern Slant, Connor Daly, and the panel will include Professor John Brewer of the George J Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice at Queen's University Belfast, Clare Bailey MLA, Denis Bradley and other prominent contributors to the peace process.
Vicky Cosstick‘s work encompasses research and essays about the legacy of the conflict in Northern Ireland on the 20th anniversary of the Good Friday/Belfast Agreement supported by Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust funding. It includes chapters on gender, systemic trauma and the role of the media in post-conflict Northern Ireland, with artworks by Rita Duffy. She is also author of the book Belfast: Toward a City Without Walls (Colourpoint 2015).
Parts of this e-book are being serialised on Northern Slant ahead of the launch – it can be ordered in advance of publication from Amazon here and will be published on 4 February. Articles from Vicky Cosstick already published on Northern Slant can be found here. You can follow Vicky Cosstick on Twitter @CosstVictoria.
