ECA presents Piano Heavy
Date and time
Join us in celebration of the 2022 music graduates.
About this event
Taking place at the beautiful Reid Concert Hall during the 2022 Graduate Show, Piano Heavy features performances and arrangements of music given by Sarah Smith (piano), Viola Migone (cello), Mariana Rosteck (piano), and Adam Auchie (piano).
As well as the chance to hear work from graduating music students, there will also be a performance of Julius Eastman's minimalist masterpiece for four pianos and 8-10 hands; Gay Guerrilla (1979).
This is a realisation of Eastman's piece as much as it is a performance. Eastman didn't produce scores of his work so much as instructions which exist in text, partial score and recorded form.
Graduating students Sarah Smith, Oskar Jones, Theo Vickers, Esther Leung and Zain Cruickshank have worked hard with the materials available to bring this dream-like piece to life.
