Eco Church Workshop
Date and time
A chance to learn more about the Eco Church award and what it involves for churches.
About this event
God for All is the ecumenical vision for Cumbria and to "Tread Gently" is one of it's key themes. As Christians in Cumbria with this shared vision, we will strive to safeguard the integrity of God's creation, seeking to sustain and renew the life of the earth. The Eco Church scheme, run by A Rocha UK, is a way for churches to live out this vision and commitment.
For churches in the Diocese of Carlisle, committing to the Eco Church scheme also helps us work to become an awarded Eco Diocese. For URC churches in Cumbria, this helps the North Western Synod reach an Eco Synod award. And for Methodist churches, you can encourage your circuit or district to register to become an Eco Circuit or Eco District.
This workshop introduces the Eco Church scheme and what is involved, with a presentation from Pam Martin, Eco Church assessor and part of the Gold awarded Levens St John the Evangelist Eco Church. There will be time to worship together and time to break into small groups, each group discussing 1 of the 5 survey areas. Finally, there'll be time to hear from each group and share ideas- which will also be emailed out to all attendees after, with other resources, to support your Eco Church journey moving forward.
The workshop will be at Penrith Christ Church (CA11 9EL), starting at 7pm. There will be free refreshments provided by Food Carlisle, and the workshop will finish at approximately 9pm. There is parking available- though please car share or use public transport if possible.
Booking closes on Thursday 9 June, at 12pm.
