Event description

Description

This is a day for adults and young people from churches of any denomination (or none) to explore a Christian response to climate change. We hope it will be empowering, inspiring and practical. The event will be led by Alex Mabbs, a United Reformed Church minister based at the Brighthelm Centre in Brighton, convenor of Earth Church and a trustee of Operation Noah. Alex has been working in Christian ecology for a number of years.

The morning will have separate sessions for adults, and young people (led by Hilary Morgan – an experienced teacher and environmentalist). These are workshops for exploring the positive actions we can take without being overwhelmed by the challenges that face us. After this both groups will meet to pool ideas and enthusiasm before final worship ‘Forest style’ in the Nature Reserve.

Following this a vegetarian lunch (let us know if you are vegan) will be provided, after which all are welcome to stay on to ask questions, discuss more about becoming an Eco-church (representatives of Eco-churches in a variety of settings will be there), explore the Marsh Green URC premises, garden and nature reserve, maybe try your hand at a practical ‘workshop’ and generally share ideas with each other.

There is no charge for the event but booking is essential. If you are vegan or have any special dietary needs please email musgroves@tom78.plus.com. Please state age if under 18.
