Eco Art: 3D Coral Reefs - AM Session
Date: Thursday 7th August
Time: 10.30am - 12pm
Location: ARTworks Creative Space, Newlands Centre, Kettering, NN16 8JA
Suitable for: Ages 7 – 15
Join the Alfred East Gallery and Manor House Museum for a hands-on engaging art workshop, designed to increase children’s awareness and understanding of the damage plastic waste and our actions are having on our oceans, and inspire creative thinking to re-use and re-purpose materials. The session encourages experimenting with simple sculpture techniques by folding, building, crumpling and gluing materials to make a three-dimensional coral sculpture.
Children will look at the natural forms of coral reefs and choose elements to represent in their artworks, using recycled materials and paints. A range of natural forms from our handling collection, such as shells, coral, and fossils in ‘feely mystery bags’ are included for children to discover and copy.
- All materials are provided with instruction and guidance.
- All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the whole session. One ticket per child. Accompanying adults do not need to book a ticket.
A free craft table will also be available for younger siblings and drop-in families between 10.30am and 2pm, where space is available.
