Event description
Ecosomatics is a growing interdisciplinary field that inter-relates aspects of embodiment with ecological awareness.

About this event

During this series, we will engage with embodied practices as we explore the relationship between body, self, environment, and Earth.

Session 1: Fundamentals of Eco-somatic Practice
This session will introduce embodiment as a gateway to deepen our connection to the natural world.  Different aspects of embodied/movement practices will be explored; encouraging the development of our bodily felt-sense awareness and intimacy with our breath and moving ‘soma’ (sentient body).

Session 2: From Womb to World. We will explore our womb-life as our first environment, and how it relates to our sense of being embodied in this World/Earth.

Session 3: Awakening our Skin, as a container of the Self, and meeting place to the ‘other’; breathing, sensing, and receiving the environment.

Session 4: Coming into our Bones, our geology; deep listening to their stories whilst we explore how bones ‘earth’ us into our ground of being, and the ground we walk upon.

Session 5: Feeling into our Fluids, exploring our watery body-self through its many shapes and forms; diving into our sense of connectedness to the more-than-human world.

Session 6: The felt Voice, exploring our relationship to our voice, inviting moving vocal expressions; sounding in ‘betwixt and between’ nature, as a way to feel the ‘other’.

Session 7: Heart & Eros, delving into our organ- the sentient heart, its' capacity for responsiveness and contemplation; inviting the Eros of place.

Each session is 2.5 hours, held online fortnightly. Outdoor embodied practices will be made available in the alternate weeks. A minimum of 30 minutes commitment to the practices is required for those completing training hours/credits. There will be an opportunity to share your experiences in a forum.

This series counts as a total of 20 hours credits for Ten Directions students.
