Description

Collaborate for growth ethical compliance workshop

In this workshop, we’ll explore how you can leverage the power of WeChat to sell directly to the Chinese consumer. We’ll cover the practicalities of account setup, store design, social media, influencer marketing, mobile payments, customer service and logistics. You will have the opportunity to meet with industry leaders and will leave the session with actionable steps towards launching your own WeChat stores.

A blossoming middle class, shifting patterns of consumption, and technological innovation have made China the most exciting eCommerce market in the world. Worth a total of $1.1 trillion annually (roughly 3x the size of the US market and 10x the UK market), the country cannot be ignored as a market for British goods and services. Yet, developing a robust China market entry strategy is fraught with challenges, whether from a linguistic, legal, financial, bureaucratic or marketing perspective. In recent months, however, the rise of WeChat - China’s most popular social network with almost 1 billion monthly active users - as a sales tool has created a unique opportunity for brands big and small to establish and grow a market presence in a quick, efficient and scalable manner.

Workshop leader:

TONG Digital is a leading digital and eCommerce agency at the forefront of communications and technology in China. TONG specialises in helping British brands of all sizes fulfil their online retail potential in China through the setup, promotion and management of WeChat stores.

Adam is a cofounder at TONG with seven years’ experience living in and working with China. He regularly speaks about WeChat and Chinese eCommerce at events in the UK, US, Europe, Russia and China. He holds degrees in Chinese Studies and Social Science of the Internet from the University of Oxford.

This event is delivered as part of the Collaborate Growing Business Together project and is specifically aimed at businesses based in Leicester and Leicestershire, with fewer than 250 employees. This event is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and partners.
