Do I need prior knowledge of domestic abuse to attend?

No previous knowledge is required. Each session is designed to be accessible and engaging, while still offering depth and practical insights for professionals.

What will I gain from attending?

You will gain a clear understanding of key definitions and legislation. Learn to recognise signs of abuse affecting older people. Feel more confident in supporting older victim-survivors. Be able to signpost individuals to specialist support and receive a certificate.

How interactive are the sessions?

We use case studies, breakout discussions, and reflective exercises. You’ll have opportunities to share your thoughts and learn from others, but participation is always optional.

How can I use this training in my role?

You’ll leave with practical tools to identify risks and warning signs in older people’s lives. Challenge myths and stereotypes about abuse in later life. Build confidence in “reaching in” and offering help and establish referral pathways to Hourglass and other support services.
