Event description

Description

Locavore presents the second lecture in the Ecopedagogy series with:

The End of 'Stuff' - Why deconsumerisation is good for us, good for the planet, and good for the economy

from Robin McAlpine, director of Common Weal.

-----

Ecopedagogy is a new lecture series brought to you by the zero waste team at Locavore. Over the course of the last months of our project with Zero Waste Scotland we will be hosting lively and exciting talks from the cutting edge of environmental, philosophical and political discourse, and looking at where ideas of zero waste and circular economy fit into these visions of the future.

-----

Hosted by Swap Market, who will be presenting a short introduction and discussing their work under an alternative economy model in Govanhill.

Robin McAlpine is Director of Common Weal, a Scottish 'think and do tank' which campaigns for social and economic equality, participative democracy, environmental sustainability, wellbeing, quality of life, peace, justice and cooperation. He has worked for over 20 years in journalism, public affairs, political strategy and policy. He writes for a wide range of sources on Scottish politics.

Robin will be talking about deconsumerisation, alternative economy models for a future Scotland, and the agency of the individual in environmentalism.

The Good Food Fund

The Good Food Fund is our project to help people in the community who find themselves in the desperate situation of needing emergency food aid. It is an alternative model to traditional food banks which rely on donations of tinned and dry goods from members of the public for distribution to those in need.

------

All tickets are suggested donation only, with proceeds going to Locavore's Good Food Fund.
Nobody will be turned away due to lack of funds. In this instance please contact eilidh@glasgowlocavore.org.
