About this event
The reverence of the ample belly as a symbol of birth, nurture and renewal of the world has been acknowledged by many cultures and traditions.
Depicted in figurines, engravings, paintings and ceramics; represented in sanctuaries and temples, and embodied in dances and practices around the world- the belly and the navel, as the centre of the human body, is seen as the source of vital life force, creative power, and ground consciousness.
Developmentally, from the navel our first motion patterns in the womb unfold, to assist us later on in yielding to the Earth, and continue to ease our movement throughout our life span.
There is a knowing in the gut, described lately as the enteric nervous system, often called the “second brain”, sharing the same original embryonic tissues, available to us.
Engaging with indoors and outdoors gentle somatic explorations, embodied self-care practices and belly-landscape art-making, this course is a space to enliven that belly-place in us, and to experience this centre as a gateway for sensuous knowing, nutritious movement, and relating to the Earth through beingness.
Due to the nature of this work, this day is limited to 12 people so book early to avoid disappointment
Please note that at Tariki Trust, we generally do not record our online events. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds to people who do not show up assuming that they will get a recording. Please note that although this event is part of the Ten Directions training course for ecotherapy practitioners, anybody can book and take part in this public online event! If you are interested, please do buy a ticket.
