About this event
This unit consists of a day workshop with accompanying notes which will explore the foundations of therapeutic work outdoors, looking at ways in which the practitioner can hold a safe and therapeutic space for others.
Working outdoors provides a unique opportunity for therapeutic work, and the environment which it offers can often be far richer than that of the therapy room or group room, but in its richness and complexity there lie many challenges for the practitioner, some of which may be similar to those encountered in other settings whilst others may be specific to the move outdoors. This workshop will explore the position of the practitioner working in outdoor environments, looking at ways of incorporating elements of good practice and identifying potential pitfalls in the work. It will signpost the practitioner to matters which need consideration, and direct them towards professional frameworks and mechanisms, such as supervision and CPD which can support their ongoing development.
The day workshop is a compulsory component of the Diploma in Environmentally Based Therapies and draws together information which is presented in other parts of the programme, thus consolidating students' knowledge of the foundations of good practice. It is also open to the general public and students on the Ten Directions (Year 1) Certificate, too.
Please note that we will not be recording this online event. We cannot offer refunds to people who do not show up assuming that they will get a recording.
As our events are interactive, we kindly request that attendees have their cameras switched on to engage with the group experience (unless of course you have technical difficulties).
